DANCE IS CRINGE BY LED

Based in Boise and named by Dance Magazine as one of 2020’s “25 to Watch,” LED, founded by Lauren Edson, takes risks. By creating unique entry points into the work, they hope that their performances or experiences or film or music or dance, spark curiosity and inspire audiences to discover something new each time.

The company has found tremendous traction with audiences in Boise and beyond in its eight years of existence. Every facet of their productions is created from scratch in house with a team of talented dancers, musicians, designers, and technicians who are brought on board as needed for each creative undertaking.

Centered upon a narrative arc, Dance is Cringe (first debuted at Treefort Music Festival in 2022) is by turns thrilling, hilarious, erotic, deeply emotional and certainly pushes the boundaries for what a dance performance could be. The work asks: “Do you feel sexy, passionate, empowered and alive when you dance? Or does the act of dancing, the thought of dancing, or even just watching someone dance make you cringe? Follow this cult of personality on a journey to a ‘dance utopia.’ You might just drink the Kool-Aide and join the movement.”

Dance is Cringe featured in KUOW’s Soundside, “After two long years, contemporary dance looks for a comeback.”

Dance is Cringe featured in Crosscut, “Things to do in Seattle this August.”
